Report the stock of radioactive substances with half-lives of more than 100 days

You are the holder of a licence to handle other radioactive substances in accordance with the Radiation Protection Act. You are then obliged to notify the competent authority of your stock of radioactive substances with half-lives of more than 100 days at the end of a calendar year by 31 January of the following year.

The type and level of activity of the substances, broken down by radionuclide, must also be stated; in the case of sealed sources, the source number and, if applicable, the type approval number must also be stated.

Responsible authority

The regional council in whose district your company, business or organisation (hospital, practice, company) is located.

Required documents

When purchasing enclosed radioactive substances, a certificate must be enclosed stating that the enclosure is sealed and free of contamination (Section 94 (2) of the Radiation Protection Ordinance (StrlSchV)).
